Install a desktop player

Add the account
Paste the server address, username and password rather than typing them. Pasting removes the single commonest cause of a failed first login, which is one mistyped character in a password originally entered on a television remote.
Use the search box
Searching a catalogue of this size with a keyboard takes seconds. It is worth doing once on a computer to find out what is genuinely in the line-up, rather than hunting for it group by group on a television later in the week.
Send the picture to the big screen
Running an HDMI lead from the laptop to the television is a test almost nobody thinks to try. If the same channel comes through that cable cleanly and breaks up in the player on the television, over the same network and on the same three credentials, the line is cleared outright and the television or its software is left holding the fault.
Keep the credentials somewhere you will find them
A computer is the one device in the house where the host, the username and the password can be kept somewhere you will actually find them again. Everything in this service rests on those three strings, and the commonest reason for an anxious message to support is a household that kept them only inside a television which has since been factory reset.
